FAQ
The Basics
What is Way Better MD?
Way Better MD is a telemedicine platform that provides medically guided care for men and women who want to change how they feel and function. Care is delivered virtually, allowing you to work with licensed medical providers from home without navigating traditional healthcare systems.
Your care plan is based on a detailed intake and evaluation of your health history and goals. When appropriate, treatment may include prescription options, along with clear education so you understand your path forward.
How does it work?
You start by selecting the treatment you are interested in and completing a brief, but detailed, medical intake. This covers your health history, goals, and key information your provider needs to review. A licensed medical provider reviews your information, typically within 24 hours. If treatment is appropriate, a personalized plan is created and medication may be prescribed.
In some states, a live video visit or secure chat is required to complete your visit. If medication is prescribed, it is filled by a licensed pharmacy and shipped directly to you. No insurance is required. At any time, you can access your patient portal at waybettermd.com to review your information, message your care team, or check updates. Click Login in the upper right corner to get started.
How much does it cost?
All treatment plans include your consultation with a licensed medical provider at no additional cost. Ongoing access to your provider for questions or adjustments is included for the duration of your prescription.
Pricing is clear and transparent, with no insurance required. The cost of treatment depends on the plan and medication prescribed, and you will see pricing before you complete your order. There are no hidden fees or surprise charges.
Orders, Shipping, & Access
Where is Way Better MD available?
Way Better MD provides nationwide service across the United States. In some states, specific medications may have restrictions. If a medication is not available in your state, you will not be charged for that medication. Availability is confirmed through the intake and provider review process before any prescription is finalized.
What happens after I place my order?
After you place your order, you can follow the entire process in your patient portal. A licensed medical provider reviews your intake, typically within 24 hours. If additional information is needed, or if a call is required by your state, your provider will contact you directly through the portal. Once your visit is complete and treatment is approved, your prescription is finalized and sent to a licensed pharmacy for fulfillment.
You will continue to see status updates in your portal as your order moves forward. If you have questions at any time, you can reach out through your patient portal. To access your portal, go to waybettermd.com and click Login in the upper right corner.
How long does it take to receive my medication?
Once your prescription is approved and sent to the pharmacy, most orders ship within 1–3 business days.
Shipping times may vary based on the medication prescribed, your location, and pharmacy processing times. You will receive tracking information and status updates through your patient portal once your order ships.
What happens if there’s an issue with my order or account?
If there is an issue with your order or account, our team will work with you to resolve it as quickly as possible. The best way to reach us is through your patient portal, where you can send a message and receive updates. You can access your portal at any time at waybettermd.com by clicking Login in the upper right corner.
If you’re having trouble accessing your portal, you can email us at support@waybettermd.com or visit the Contact Us page for additional ways to get in touch. We’re here to help and make sure everything gets back on track quickly.
How do refills and ongoing orders work?
Reordering is simple. You can request a refill through your patient portal once you are eligible based on your treatment plan. Your provider will review your progress as needed, and once approved, your next order will be processed and shipped.
If you are on a three-month prescription you’ll meet with your licensed medical provider every three months to review your progress and ongoing care.
This allows your provider to stay up to date on your progress and make any necessary dosing adjustments. It also gives you a dedicated moment to share feedback or changes, so your care continues to reflect where you are and where you’re headed.
Do I need to sign for my delivery?
No signature is required. Orders are shipped via secure, no contact delivery.
How can I update my shipping address or payment method?
You can update your shipping address and payment information directly in your patient portal. To make changes, log in to your patient portal at waybettermd.com and click Login in the upper right corner. From there, you can manage your account details at any time.
If you need assistance, the best way to reach us is through the portal or email support@waybettermd.com.
Can I return my medication?
Prescription medications are custom prepared and regulated for safety, so they cannot be returned or refunded once shipped. If you experience a shipping issue or have concerns about your order, please reach out to the Way Better MD team through your patient portal so we can help address the situation.
Good to Know
Is it legal to prescribe medications online?
Yes. Telehealth allows licensed medical providers to evaluate patients and prescribe medications online when it is clinically appropriate and permitted by state law. Way Better MD is LegitScript certified, which reflects adherence to high standards for safety, transparency, and regulatory compliance in telemedicine. Every prescription is issued by a licensed provider who reviews your medical intake and determines whether treatment is appropriate, in accordance with applicable medical and regulatory standards.
Who provides care though Way Better MD?
Care through Way Better MD is provided by licensed medical providers who are authorized to practice in your state. Each provider reviews your health intake, evaluates whether treatment is appropriate, and oversees your care over time. Prescriptions are only written when medically appropriate and are guided by clinical standards.
Where is my medication filled?
Medications prescribed through Way Better MD are filled by licensed U.S. pharmacies that meet required safety and quality standards. Your provider selects the appropriate pharmacy based on your prescription and location to ensure proper dispensing and delivery. All medications are prepared and shipped in accordance with applicable regulations.
Can I use my insurance?
Way Better MD operates as a self-pay telehealth service and does not bill insurance. This allows providers to focus on care without the restrictions often required by insurance plans. While insurance is not accepted, transparent pricing is provided upfront so you know what to expect before starting treatment.
When will I be charged for my medication?
You will only be charged after your medical intake has been reviewed and a licensed provider has approved your prescription. If your provider determines that treatment is not appropriate, you will not be charged. Once approved, payment is processed and your medication is prepared for shipment. You will always see pricing before completing your order so there are no surprises.
Is my information safe?
Yes. Protecting your privacy is a priority at Way Better MD. Your personal and medical information is handled through secure systems and is only accessed by licensed medical providers involved in your care. Way Better MD is held to high standards for data protection, including HIPAA compliance, and LegitScript, which reflects strict requirements for privacy, transparency, and regulatory oversight. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details.
Why do I need to submit a photo ID?
We require proof of identification, such as a photo of a valid driver’s license, to confirm your identity before care is provided. This is a standard requirement in telehealth and helps ensure prescriptions are issued safely and to the correct individual.
What should I do if I need urgent care?
Way Better MD is not designed to provide emergency care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency or need urgent assistance, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For non urgent questions related to your treatment, you can contact your provider through your patient portal.
What is the age requirement for service?
Way Better MD services are available to adults 18 years of age and older. Providers can only evaluate and prescribe care for patients who meet this age requirement.
The Truth About GLP-1 Medications
Are GLP-1 medications cheating or taking the easy way out?
No. No one looks at someone wearing glasses and assumes they are taking the easy way out for needing help to see clearly. In the same way, when metabolic and appetite signaling are dysregulated, it can be extremely difficult to outwork or out-diet biology alone. GLP-1 therapy is not about shortcuts. It creates a window where hunger cues, energy, and metabolic signaling become more regulated, making it easier to build sustainable habits around nutrition, movement, and long-term health. Rather than replacing effort, it helps align biology so your effort finally works with your body instead of against it.
What if I’ve tried everything and nothing has worked?
Many people who explore GLP-1 therapy are not starting from a lack of effort, but from years of doing the right things without lasting results. When metabolic and appetite signaling are dysregulated, the body can resist even consistent nutrition and exercise efforts. This is not a willpower issue. It is often a biology issue. GLP-1 therapy helps regulate hunger cues, energy balance, and metabolic signaling, creating a more supportive internal environment where healthy habits can finally work more effectively and sustainably.
Are GLP-1 medications only for weight loss?
No. While weight change is often the most visible outcome, GLP-1 therapy supports metabolic signaling across the brain, gut, pancreas, and hormonal systems. Many individuals notice quieter food noise, steadier energy, more balanced appetite cues, and improved insulin sensitivity as their internal regulation becomes more stable. Some also experience steadier mood, reduced emotional eating patterns, and broader support for metabolic and hormonal balance, including areas connected to PMS and PCOS. For many, the deeper shift is not just the number on the scale, but a calmer, more regulated relationship with hunger, energy, and overall metabolic health.
Is GLP-1 therapy brand new with no long-term studies?
No. The scientific foundation behind GLP-1 therapies spans decades, with early research on incretin hormones beginning in the 20th century and extensive clinical use in metabolic care long before their rise in public awareness. What is new is the broader conversation and expanded application in weight and metabolic health, not the underlying science. Ongoing research continues to build on a well established clinical history rather than starting from scratch.
Are GLP-1 medications too expensive to consider?
At Way Better MD, our mission is to make effective metabolic care more accessible, not more complicated or cost-prohibitive. We prioritize personalized, medically guided solutions using U.S. compounded options that allow for flexibility in dosing, structure, and long-term planning. This approach helps reduce unnecessary cost barriers while still maintaining clinical quality and oversight. Instead of a one-size-fits-all model, care is tailored to the individual, which often makes treatment more sustainable and realistic over time.
Will GLP-1 medications cause a lot of side effects?
Most individuals tolerate GLP-1 therapy well when dosing is gradual and tailored to their physiology. Some people notice temporary digestive changes as the body adapts to more regulated metabolic signaling, but these typically improve with thoughtful titration, hydration, and proper nutrition. Throughout your care, you have direct access to your clinician, so any questions about how you feel can be discussed and your plan can be adjusted in a personalized way.
Are GLP-1 medications unhealthy or unsafe?
When prescribed and monitored appropriately, GLP-1 therapies are considered well studied and clinically established in metabolic medicine. They have been used for years in the management of blood sugar and cardiometabolic health. Current research continues to support their role in improving metabolic markers, reducing inflammatory burden, and supporting long-term health outcomes when used under medical guidance. As with any therapy, proper dosing, monitoring, and individualized care are key.
Will I lose all my muscle on a GLP-1?
GLP-1 medications do not directly cause muscle loss. Changes in lean muscle typically happen when protein intake drops and strength training is not prioritized as appetite decreases. When the body is properly fueled and supported with resistance training, many individuals maintain or even build lean muscle while losing fat. Inside the Way Better Community, members have access to Fuel and Movement guides designed to help support protein intake, strength, and body composition throughout their journey.
Do GLP-1 medications shut your appetite off completely?
No. GLP-1 therapy is designed to regulate appetite, not eliminate it. Most people still feel hunger, but it tends to become calmer, more proportional, and easier to respond to rather than constant or intrusive. Many individuals describe this as reduced food noise and more stable internal cues around when and how much to eat. The goal is not suppression, but a more balanced and regulated appetite that supports sustainable nutrition and long-term metabolic health.
Will you gain all the weight back if you stop GLP-1 therapy?
Not inherently. Long-term results are influenced more by the habits, nutrition, and metabolic stability built during treatment than by the medication alone. GLP-1 therapy helps create a period where appetite, blood sugar, and food cues feel more regulated, making it easier to establish consistent routines around fueling, movement, and daily structure. When those patterns are supported and maintained, progress is far more likely to be sustained over time rather than reversed.
